That Special Baby

Some of you might remember a post I wrote recently about my sister and brother-in-law taking in another foster child with intent to adopt. Amyra, their first and only, was adopted and she's five now. Dominic, the little boy, is around ten months now, about the same age Amyra's was when they first fostered her. While Amyra was premature, Dominic's biological mother was an alcoholic. Both she and the biological father have already signed away their parental rights. As of now Dominic has a tracheal tube in his throat so of course he won't be able to talk until that's taken out. Apparently, they haven't told my sister what led to him needing the tracheal tube, but they have been notoriously hush hush on the health of the child until you're about to take the baby home. Not helpful at all. My sister got to take him to get glasses, and she learned how to change his tracheal tube. They'll get more concrete info on when they can take him home for good pretty soon.

Amyra's a happy child, and she's really excited about getting a brother. She calls him her baby.

Your sister and brother-in-law are the kindest people I heard this week. They have the kindest hearts of being parents to Amyra and Dominic. God bless their ways all their days and lives. I'll pray with your sister and her husband that things will go very well and that provisions and wisdom shall bless them.

I don't think that it will matter to your sister what caused the need for the tube, it sounds like she loves this child.

Oh no, of course not. I'm saying it seems silly not to give the caretakers medical information a b out the child. Eventually, the trachea tube will come out. I'm just wondering what would be wrong about sharing information. They did the same thing with Amyra's information. My sister would like to know if she needs to prepare his room for anything specific.

@AmbiePam I think that it lacks professionalism for them to carry on that way, the caregiver should have all details surrounding the child's health, it can only help and if not now then in the future.
