An Interesting Piece of Useless Information

United States

You should know me by now. I’m always looking for something interesting to share with you and all my friends. I collect trivia and have done so for many years. This was something that I read today, though. Shirley Temple always had 56 curls in her hair. AND Howdy Doody had exactly 48 freckles on his face. These came from “Berta’s Useless Facts.” I will share some more of these interesting facts later.

Both were before my time, but I've seen some Shirley Temple movies. I can say with confidece that I like Maryanne more than Ginger. And Betty more than Veronica. What does that say about me?

@1creekgirl Yeah, to this day, "trashy" people bother me. You can imagine how I feel about Kim Kardashian.

I do too. I share them with my friends. They think I'm a "walking encyclopedia of useless facts." It's FUN though.

@TheHorse I'm not an expert in the "SPORTS" category. My oldest son is though, so I asked him how many home runs Willie Mays hit in 1965. He said 50. And by then he had hit his 512th home run breaking Mel Otts National League record. "The Say Hey Kid" Willie Mays hit 660 home runs in his long career, putting him in the TOP THREE at the time of his retirement.

DiId you know that Fisher X-100B amplifiers use 7868 power tubes? I assume I don't have to tell you how many home runs Willie Mays hit in 1965.

I will not remember these "facts." Did Shirley Temple never get a haircut?

She no doubt got her hair trimmed, but her mother set her hair in curls and it was always the same number of curlers.

@TheHorse I understand that her MOTHER was in charge. Whatever she said was what was done. I don't think the directors had much control over things like that. They were quite happy with her talent, which was amazing.

@IreneVincent Once she was in films, wouldn't the film people have had a big say in matters like that? "For this film, we need 57 curls!"

I love Jeopardy. I'm pretty good at it, but there are some subjects that I know nothing about. Like sit-coms, which I don't watch and therefore know nothing about their roles or the actors who play them.

Shirley Temple's curls do fascinate But to count whether fifty six or fifty eight? Seems too much of a bother So its best left to another Their observation , I won't debate !

Shirley Temple's mother always used 56 curlers. She may have even used 56 "rags." Rags were used before curlers were invented.
