@Celticeagle made a post about homes and she put me in mind of the homes I grew up in. There was one I came home from the hospital when I was born. It wasn't a ranch, because it had an upstairs in it, but it had a hip roof like a ranch. When I was ll my dad started building our ranch home. Dad had the foundation made and the cement laid and built the basement. He did all this after work. After work he had the use of the company and materials, and just note all he used and it would be deducted from his pay. Dad made our house prefab and carried the panels home on our boat trailer that he modified. My brother and I helped on weekends. We also put the roof on. It was tiring but then a neighbor kid came to help and he picked it up real fast. Dad was pleased and depended on Freddie, our friend, to help. Freddie took meals with us and we had a good timr. If we had to change direction, get showed us how to do that. That house still looks the same as it did before 45 to 50 years ago.
