John Keim reports the news on Saturday Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed will not be playing football versus the Philadelphia Eagles due to a concussion injury that has not healed completely. Reed suffered his concussion injury during the Week Five Redskins 16-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Reed entered the league concussion protocol on Tuesday due to symptoms related to a head injury. Reed will be replaced by Vernon Davis as the starting tight end of the Redskins (3-2) who will be hosting the Philadelphia Eagles (3-1) at FedEx Field in Landover Maryland on Sunday October 16, 2016. Since Reed was not able to join his teammates in practice drills this week, it was the decision of the Redskins management to keep him on the inactive list on Sunday until he is cleared to play football by the medical staff of the National Football League.

Correct. Better to be safe than sorry.
