What is the one material item you couldn't live without?

I lived in a home with no tv, stove, computer we had no kitchen or living room furniture. We only had an AM/FM radio and a double bed. I think we got a lot closer that year than any other time. Could you live without all these things?

Material things tend to distract people from the real focus of life. Some people at times in their lives find that having family and friends makes you much richer than having possessions.

You are so right. We tend to over look the things most important to us til the day comes when we don't have them. Sounds like you stopped to take a moment to reflect.

Being without the internet really really annoys me but I would have to say Electricity because there isn't much you can do without it

sure there is if you stop and think about it. Candle light dinners. Have you ever been without power for more than a day? You learn to adjust to the climate. It is quite fun actually. Cold showers, sandwiches and acting like you are camping. Oh did you think about Gas powered things? That keeps many of us going too. Thanks for the response.

I guess that wouldn't be very romatic. Sorry it was off so long. I hope things are better for you now. What would you tell people to do if they have this same problem? I'm sure you have plenty of advice.

Yes I've lived without electricity for 3 months and no water and there was nothing romantic about it..lol It was in the summertime and I lived in a very small mobile home and it was because of lack of money so there weren't any options for alternative ways to power things..I hope I never have to live those days over again.

I guess I'd have to say that the one material item I just couldnt live without would have to be money....even it small amounts its still the basis of all material items!

you really thought that one out as well. I'm glad to see it made people think. I like the way you said the basis of all material items. You read deep into the discussions don't you? That makes for great responses as well. Thanks for the reponse. I will look for more discussions by you.

That isn't so far. Get on that horse and ride. A taxi would cost as much as a car would.
