Josh Alper reports the Miami Dolphins have claimed off waivers former Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Nick Williams.
Williams was a seventh round draft choice of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2013 National Football League Draft out of Samford University.
Williams did not play in any regular season games for the Steelers during his rookie season due to a knee injury.
Williams played for the Kansas City Chiefs from 2014 through the current football season before the Chiefs released him on Tuesday.
The Dolphins placed safety Reshad Jones on the injured reserved list due to a tear in his rotator cuff that will sideline him for the rest of the 2016 football season.
Williams will replace Jones on the Dolphins 53 man roster which is unusual since Williams is a defensive lineman replacing a defensive back player like Jones on the Dolphins roster.

Williams is fortunate to be picked up by another team so quickly.
