As many of you have read in my previous posts...I had the good fortune this year to travel around our amazing country in my husbands big rig.Unfortunately I became ill and had to get off the truck. I am going to miss the traveling and the many wonderful people I met along the way.I took over 7000 photos of scenery along the interstate highways and state highways, and only missed out on traveling through a few states this year. Washington,Oregon,Florida,Montana,North and South Dakota are the the only states I was not able to travel through. Some of the seasons were brutal with blizzards, wind, and snow drifts, in winter.Thunderstorms, monsoons, tornado's, sleet, rain and hail storms in spring and high summer temperatures above 100 degrees. Truckdrivers of America are out there everyday trying to get their freight where it needs to be in a safe timely manner, despite the dangers out there driving on the roads. Hats off to these courageous people that chose this career, so that we could have food in our grocery stores, department store choices, building and construction materials and more...Please be safe and courteous driving around our monsters of the road for yourself and the truckdrivers well being.

Not one of those 7000 photos on this post? What an adventure you must have had, but I'm sorry that you got ill. How long were you on the trip?

Yes it was great to travel in the jumpseat...I was a truck driver myself 20 years ago and it was amazing to see the changes in the cities and on the highways from a passengers perspective so many of the cities have cleaned up the pollution and garbage along the roadways as well as the cities themselves. Many truck stops offer modern conveniences like Wi-Fi, cable and idle air and the drivers lounges are equipped with comfortable chairs to watch big screen television, the showers are modern and clean and they offer a variety of food choices, deli, full service restaraunt and convenience food. Most truck stops have diversified shopping for much needed truck and trailer items, clothing, food, snacks and beverages as well as gift and souvenier shops.

Yes...it takes a special kind of person to live over the road, but many local drivers have hardships as well.
