I craved and then I caved...

Had you asked me where I most wanted to go to eat these past few years there's a good chance I would have said "Chipotle". "Chipotle" for those who don't know is sort of like a Subway where your food is assembeled in front of you. Only instead of sandwhichs, it's Mexican food. And from a few years ago until recently I thought it was the best thing ever. Could not get enough. Found myself wishing I could eat at least 2 out of 3 meals a day there. "My" meal for those who were wondering, is the shredded beef, white rice, black beans, 4 scoops of "green" salsa, guacamole and extra cheese in a bowl. While I theorized for a long time why I was such an addict it came down to the combination of the mixture of green salsa and guacamole. So recently I was in town and it would have been inconvienient to go back home to eat so I thought, why not = and went to Chipotle. I hadn't been there in 2 or 3 months. A rarity considering I had at one time been in the habit of dining there at least once a week, many times more than that. My food was still tasty and I got the same options -- but it just didn't grab me, didn't addict me like it used to. In the past as I neared the end of my meal I would've wished for more, plotting my next trip there. However this time as I neared the finish ofthe bowl I was actually tired of it. Have you had a meal that you like sort of fade from popularity like that? I wonder what it is that makes us crave certain things. Like my ramblings about food? sometimes things change - they may have altered the formula or ingredients in some way

@FayeHazel such changes seldom work - as the saying goes if it ain't broke don't fix it

That could be. Didn't think about that, but it does bring back memories of what used to be my favorite restaurant, closed to remodel, when they reopened they changed the menu for the worse in my opinion.

I haven't eaten at Chipotle, but I did have an addiction to banana Popsicles. I'm not kidding. I was eating 7 or 8 a day. Then one day I realized how stupid that was and stopped cold-turkey. They haven't tasted good since then.

Ooo I hope you get to try Chipotle. It can be addictive though. I love the banana popsicles too, it's one of the best flavors

@FayeHazel I thought it was just another Mexican restaurant so I'll have to try it.

Yeah I have had that happen to me plenty of times. For a while I was eating a lot of pasta. I could have had it all the time with no issue. I ate it so much though that I just got sick of it. Now I like pasta once a week. =)

It's odd that your taste has changed. I don't like Mexican food.

@FayeHazel Did they change owners? That can happen where the food is not the same as it once was. I am glad we have a Mexican restaurant here too. I thought they closed but they were open last summer and home they will be open this summer too.

Good thought, but no - as far as I could tell the food stayed the same. I'm happy your Mexican restaurant will re-open :-)

Some foods that I used to love I don't like at all now. I used to love smoked salmon and prawns but since my 2nd pregnancy I can't eat them at all. Strange because I craved fish all the way through that pregnancy.

Love Mexican food but have yet to eat at a Chipotle. Will have to seek that out. I have ate certain foods and then got tired of them. Wait awhile and then I like them again.

That makes sense to wait awhile and try again. I'd be curious on how you like Chipotle.... careful it can be pretty addictive lol
