I Can't Take It Anymore!

So I mentioned I've been exercising on a semi-regular basis and that it has helped with my tennis elbow. Unfortunately it's caused my overall body pain to increase. This has forced me to take at least one extra pain killer a day (equivalent to Tylenol 3). I think the codeine has been getting to me because I have ongoing stomach issues. I have IBS but having a stomach ache AFTER going to the bathroom just isn't right. I know I don't eat right but so many things give me cramps, especially fruits and veggies. I couldn't take it anymore so I decided to cut back on the Tylenol 3. Now I usually only take one at bedtime and one early in the morning. I have added maybe 1, 2 max more lately. Back when I first got fibromyalgia I was taking 6-8 a day so I wouldn't think it would be a problem. But... I'm not getting any younger. I did not take a Tylenol last night before I went to bed. That meant the last one I took was 7:30am yesterday morning. Exactly 24 hours later, at 7:30am this morning, my colon went bezerk and I spent a half an hour in the bathroom. Oh the misery! I went back to bed but I was still uncomfortable and moaning. I did manage to get back to sleep for a couple of hours. But I had to succumb to taking a Tylenol because the exertion in the bathroom causes a great amount of pain to the body. Then, when I got up, I felt the beginnings of a UTI. Dang! So I've been in the bathroom, drinking water, drinking cranberry juice, and in the bathroom all day. The UTI is getting better but I just had another bout of cramps. Meanwhile my whole body is aching. (Yeah, it's overcast, chilly and rainy outside). I haven't exercised for the last two days. I'm back on ginger ale and crackers. I'm not doing my family any favors by not cooking meals. I did throw something quick together last night... which probably didn't do my stomach any good. And tomorrow... oh, tomorrow... I have to get up early to get to my mom's for a noon luncheon as it is her 92nd birthday. I haven't seen her in a few months so I can't back out. I have to stick to the crackers and ginger ale so I can make it there. My body pain, however, is a different story. And, well, my family don't give much of a darn about me so any excuse I use are, to them, just that - excuses. (Watch me get bombarded with questions about my husband's health - just you wait!) So that's where I'm at. That's where I am. That's why I'm not here. That's why I'm not anywhere. Okay, Dr. Seuss, get out of my head. Happy weekend all!

I'm so sorry. :( Would your doctor be able to help or advise you in any way?

I've had the same doctor for 30 years, had this illness for 20. She has sent me for all the tests she can send me for and is pretty knowledgeable on the illness. She could change my pain killer but as my husband said, most of those medications will mess up your stomach in some way. As for the IBS, she's tested me for everything for that too. I've pretty much starved myself today. Had a cup of tea a couple of hours ago and my stomach is bubbling like crazy.

@patgalca I'm really sorry. :( Yeah you don't want to make it worse by constantly changing meds often. What about eating Saltines or drinking Ginger Ale so you're not actually starving yourself? I'm not knowledgeable on any of this so forgive me if I'm making poor suggestions. :-/ I really hope you feel better asap!

@tammys85 I live on saltines and ginger ale when my stomach is bothering me. The UTI, though not bothersome, is still there because urine is still very yellow even though I'm drinking a lot of water, ginger ale and cranberry juice. I asked the doctor what causes it and he said constipation could. Well, the increase in pain killers with codeine would be responsible for that... and the lack of fruit and vegetables in my diet. I stopped exercising for the time being.

I am sorry you are dealing with all this. Living is paid every day of life is trying. I know quite a few people who have fibromyalgia and I see them suffer. Most of themy are on strong pain killers. I don't know how you do it. I hope you have a good day tomorrow at your mom's 92nd birthday.

How have I done it? With medication, pacing myself and knowing my limitations. I've been pushing myself too hard with the exercise because I'm so tired of being fat. I just hope I feel better tomorrow for Mom's birthday.

How I can relate and I wonder if IBS is a natural part with having Fibromyalga as I suffer from this as well.

IBS is one of the many symptoms of fibromyalgia. It's on the list. Also, you need to consider that the stomach is the second brain so whatever affects you emotionally can affect your stomach - it WILL affect your stomach if you have IBS.
