Mom's 92nd Birthday

I felt much better yesterday and was able to enjoy my mother's 92nd birthday gathering. The twins and their daddy are missing in the above photo because the girls were sleeping and he was taking the photo.
My mother has 5 children (one deceased), 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. So according to this picture, there was probably about 1/3 of the family there... maybe only 1/4.
When my daughter and I arrived my sister said my mom was Mrs. Grouchypants today. However, once she saw everyone arrive she perked right up... but did become overwhelmed several times. Imagine if the WHOLE family had been there. Well, not enough room for them at that place.
She has one wonky leg so has taken to using the walker full time now. She is looking pretty feeble. We were only there for about 2 hours... she couldn't handle more than that... neither could the babies.
I got to hold some babies... well, all three of them. Just so freakin' adorable!!
And now... now, today, Sunday, I am again fighting a UTI. I was fighting one on Friday and managed to flush it out but it has come back. This is the third this month so I guess I better get to a doctor for medication. I am seriously considering the hospital this afternoon. Don't know whether I can handle the 10 minute drive there.

It is lovely to have a big family too that are in harmony with each other. I hope that your mom feels very special on her birthday celebration. Moms are great! I would love my mom to have that kind of celebration too. Anyway, how are you feeling now?

@patgalca Oh, I thought you were in a harmony. I always think that way when people post their photos together.

@annierose There are times when I can physically be there but not paid much attention to, especially when the grandchildren are around. My siblings are all about their grandchildren. I never hear from them unless it's for an occasion like Mom's birthday or Mother's Day.

That is such a lovely picture and your mother is so blessed that she reached that age and to have such a loving family and clan.

@louievill Unfortunately my eldest brother inherited the bad heart gene from my father and passed away suddenly at the age of 56.

I hope you get to the doctor. I didn't want to go yesterday and I forced myself. When I got put of there I was glad that I did. Glad to see your mother had a good birthday. I am sure she was tired. It is like my mom used to say when we had family get togethers "its nice to see everybody come but it is nice to see them all leave to." lol

I went to the hospital Sunday night but it was too busy so I went home and went to the clinic on Monday. There was barely anyone there. They took a sample and gave me a script for antibiotics. Seems constipation can lead to a UTI, and I was experiencing that last week with my stomach issues.

My mom celebrated her 92nd birthday earlier this month. My brother and I took her out to dinner.
Sorry you're not feeling well.

We can't take our mother out anymore. She has dementia and also seems to have a very bum leg right now. She needed the walker. Plus it's just too hard to hear in restaurants, especially for a deaf person. We had a nice quiet gathering at her residence, pot luck. It was a nice change. Then I didn't fill up on a too-big serving of food, or end out with cramps because there was some ingredient I shouldn't have had. I'm really glad we did it that way.

@RichardMeister After my mother's heart attack last spring she was ordered to use a walker (not sure by whom) and was racing around like she didn't need it. But a few months later and she can't walk by herself at all. Her sciatica acts up and that might have been what was bothering her. Could be temporary. Not sure.

@patgalca Sorry to her about your mother's health problems. My mother uses a walker too but it's for balance more than anything else. She seems to hear quite well. For the most part we go on a weekday and there aren't very many people at the restaurant so it's pretty quiet.
