Two weeks a girl from my college was in a hit head on collision with a dump truck. I don't know the details of what actually happened but I do know that it wasn't her fault. Something about the dump trucks breaks and not being able to stop and hit her head on in the other lane. She was air lifted to a hospital in TN and rushed into surgery. After the surgery they thought she was going to make it but she then went into a coma and had little to no brain activity. Her family decided to take her off life support last week on Thursday. They are holding a memorial service in Boone for her tonight.
I did not know this girl personally but I did have her in my Stats class and had several friends who personally worked with her at the Wildlife Center. They all tell us that she was a very sweet and passionate girl who loved working with animals.
Even though I didn't know her it still hurts because she was apart of the Bobcat Family. The college has been very supportive and helpful with the students on campus and grieving. They have arranged buses to take students to Boone for the service and bring them back. They are even serving food in the cafe two hours earlier than normal so that people going to the service don't miss dinner.
There was a GoFundMe account made by some of her family and friends and the college has donated $2,000. Along with parents of students that go to the college and even some students have giving. In just a few hours they had reached half of their goal just from the college, alumni members, professors, students, and students parents.
Some people might not have believed me in my last post about my college just being one big family but this just shows how much we all are and how much the people working for and at the college are so willing to give and help.

So sorry to hear this. I will say a prayer for this young girls, her family and all her friends who have been affected by her loss. Your college sounds a wonderful, caring and supportive place. I can see why you are proud to be a part of it.
