Eggs are boiled or fried. It is also mixed in other dishes. Eggs are important ingredient in cakes, bread or pastries. But did you know that there are three (3) most disgusting egg dishes. In China, they have these Century Eggs and Virgin Eggs. While here in the Philippines, we have Balut. Century Eggs are preserved eggs with slimy, grayish yolks and herbal tea colored ‘egg-white’. It is either cooked or eaten raw as a part of Chinese cuisine. Virgin Eggs are actually soaked in the collected urine of young boys. Then it is boiled in that urine too, with shells cracked so that the flavor can seep through. The picture here is the Virgin Egg. Balut is part of street foods here in the Philippines. It is boiled with the fertilized embryo of a duck curled up in the eggshell. It is eaten with salt, chili, garlic and vinegar. It is sometimes served with Beer and also considered to be an aphrodisiac If you will be given a choice, would you be eating these eggs? Photo credit: odditycentral.com

As a Chinese, the century eggs are very common here. But southern Chinese like to make the congee with it. In the north China people may like to add something like sugar to eat it raw. It can be a starter. However, as a Chinese, I have never heard or seen the virgin eggs. After reading your description, I find it hard to believe that we have this kind of eggs I have been to many places in China but haven't seen these eggs before.

I eat balut and have eaten century egg already . I like the balut but the century egg , no . I certainly wouldn't eat the Virgin egg. It's disgusting how it was done and considering that it's made to be boiled in urine .

I can't imagine how these virgin eggs smells. Thinking that it is boiled in the gathered urine of young boys, I think I really can't take it too.

I'd rather eat balut, at least the yellow part and not the sisiw.
