And another series comes to a close. In this case, it's my Favorite "Boy" Songs (@FourWalls did on as well. Check hers out.) #1 in my series belongs to Social Distortion and their song "Sick Boys."
Led by vocalist/guitarist Mike Ness, the group's only constant, Social Distortion formed in 1978 in Fullerton, California. The band, at one time, boasted then-future Adolescents and Christian Death guitarist Rikk Agnew. The band is commonly referred to as "cowpunk," and to me, have always given off a "just got out of prison" vibe. Think Johnny Cash gone punk and you'll have an idea of the Social Distortion sound.
"Sick Boys" is a tune from the band's self-titled 1990 album. The song was not released as a single, and was overshadowed by singles such as "Ball and Chain," "Story of My Life," and their cover of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire." "Sick Boys" has been covered by punk band MxPx. It is, basically, a great song on a great album. And, despite the lack of hit status, #1 in this series.

Nothing like a wake up call from Social D! Good choice.

Thank you. You just can't go wrong with a little Social D! Mike Ness could do a modern pop song and I'd buy it.
