Voting Machines rigged?

I just saw a video on Facebook about this woman saying she was getting ready to vote when a friend of her husbands warned her that the voting machines are all jumpy.
Although I've never used a voting machine before nor did I even know they existed, I understood what she was talking about.
Basically she went in to vote and she said that when she was trying to click the screen to vote for Hillary, it kept coming up as her voting for Trump.
I found it interesting and then thought I'd do a little research. Apparently this is happening a lot.
Like I said, I didn't know there were machines nowadays. Every time we need to vote for a Prime Minister, we vote by ticking boxes on paper, folding it and putting it in a big box.
So please forgive me if I sound naive or ignorant, but has anyone else heard about this before? Or is it just a bunch of rumours? Or experienced this yourself?
Would suck if it were true. Although it wouldn't surprise me.

We hear about this all the time. Thankfully, my voting precinct still uses paper ballots. Sort of like what you described where you vote. I much prefer the manual voting methods to the electronic ones

@ms1864 You know they should just change the definition of democracy. From "of the people, by the people and for the people", it should be made "on the people, at the people and above the people"

@ms1864 Unfortunate indeed! I am counting down days until this all dramatization (otherwise called election) we have been seeing ends up.

@Daljinder it is really going in an unfortunate direction if this is how it is being done.

@VivaLaDani13 Plenty of rigging there too. When we had the same system as you for voting through ticking the boxes or stamping and putting it in a box, the candidates took advantage of that.
They would use the goons who will intercept the voters and take their ballot paper and cast their vote. You can guess to whom they would cast that vote for. Or they would just have the vehicle or the place holding all the boxes carrying votes robbed or destroyed. Or they could just have their loyals infilterate the counting committee. Besides human can always err...in the counting. So many things like that happen.....
That is why we use voting machines now! (Although it helped, it still isn't completely secure voting system.)
