Seasons of the Year

Happy Wednesday, Or whatever day it is in your part of the world. We are approaching another end of the month. My favorite month, October, is almost over and winter is on its way in this part of the world. I’m glad that I live in a state that has the change of the seasons, so that every three months, I can enjoy something different. Each season has its good points and bad points. Have you ever thought about that? In some countries, they have SIX seasons, which usually includes a monsoon season and a dry season. I find that interesting. The good points, I think, about Spring, is that Winter is finally over and the flowers and trees begin to bloom again. It’s quite beautiful when all the flowers bloom and the trees and grass are green again. Also, the hummingbirds return, along with other birds who have migrated to the warmer climates. However, for me, I don’t like the bees and bugs that come with Spring. For Summer months, there is the enjoyment of warmer weather but sometimes it just gets way too HOT for me. Thank goodness for air conditioners in my house and car. And, I don't like the thunderstorms. And then, my favorite season is the Fall of the year. The colors of the Fall season are beautiful with the leaves changing color. And there are many flowers that bloom in the Fall. The weather is usually mild and cooler too. Personally, I wish it could be Fall weather the year around as far as the temperature goes. But, winter begins. Winter has some good points too though. We have a reasonably mild winter here in Virginia, but winter has been brutal in some areas in past winters. As a child, I loved playing in the snow and sled riding. We had some great places to do just that in West Virginia where I grew up. Winter to me now, is rather a nuisance, since I can’t enjoy it like I did as a child. I practically hibernate in the winter now and only go out when I absolutely must. What is your favorite season?

I enjoy the summer because I like to go camping and spend time at the bench. The fall of the year is pretty with all of its colors but I find it just turns cold way to quickly. Spring is nice because the snow is melting and everything is beginning to grow. It is very welcoming after a long, cold winter. I really don't like winter and I like it less and less every year. I hate having to get up on those cold mornings to drive to work in the middle of a snow storm. The stress is terrible when you are driving in the snow or on ice. We get a lot of ice around here and I live on a big hill so I don't look forward to that at all. I wish I could hibernate all winter that would be fine with me.

I'm sure you get lots of snow and ice in Canada, so driving would be difficult. I'm so glad that my daughter-in-law is now working from home and doesn't have to get up on cold mornings and drive to work. I'm retired but never did work at a job where I had to get up early and drive to work. I worked for a Direct Sales Company and loved it. Sold lots of jewelry and didn't have to punch a time-clock.

@IreneVincent That sounds like a food job. Yes we get plenty of snow and ice here.

It is snowing right now, but tomorrow will be better to walk outdoors, as I have to go to some tests to check the blood sugar. I try to walk when possible but some days I stay indoors..

We had a very cold frost on the ground a couple days ago and I turned on my pellet stove for the first time. Warmed up the house very nicely and I purchased a new electric blanket that I use to warm up my bed before I get in it at night. I really don't like cold weather at all. It's supposed to warm up a little this week. But, winter is coming and I can't stand the cold anymore. I hope your tests went well. So sorry you've been in the hospital. My prayers are with you.

@buenavida I'm glad to hear that. I was taking some blood pressure medicine, but after I lost 40 pounds, I didn't need it anymore. I'm not taking any prescription medication now. I do take a few herbs and an aspirin from time to time for back pain. I never have headaches.

I enjoy the changes, like you. I wouldn't want the same weather day after day.

@IreneVincent A long time ago (I was about 20) I went on holiday to Malta. The first day I opened the curtains to glorious sunshine, blue cloudless skies, lovely warmth; I was really excited. The second day I was really pleased to find it was just as good as the first. The third day was lovely too. The fourth day was just the same. By the fifth day I found myself thinking 'sunny again' without enthusiasm. I quickly realised that for me, even lovely sunshine gets boring if its the same every day.

Now, if the weather was absolutely PERFECT every day, I would LOVE that. And by perfect, it would have to be about 78 to 82 degrees. Sun shining and some soft rain during the night. No thunderstorms, No ice storms, No hurricanes, No tornados, No extreme temperatures. That would be nice. Just saying.
