Day 52 Proverbs 12:1 Proverbs 12:1 Whoso loves instruction loves knowledge: but he that hates reproof is brutish. I don’t know about you, but I loved school and everything about it. I love learning new things, even the hard things like math, which was my downfall all the way through school, until I got to college and did a one on one with the lab teacher and was finally able to grasp what had eluded me for so many years. During my school years, there were the kids who scoffed at school, were absent a lot, and generally made a mockery of education. Typically, they also didn’t graduate and ended up in trouble most of the time. Solomon said that those who loved instruction, loved knowledge. Instruction comes in many forms. It starts with our formative years, what we learn from our parents, then on to our school years, and into our adult years with our jobs. Instruction comes in many kinds of packets, and wears many hats. We get instruction from parents, teachers, law enforcement officers, and the government through the many laws that govern our lives. Without instruction, we would be brutish, as Solomon said about those who hate reproof or discipline. You all know people who defy discipline. They would rather follow their own set of rules than obey anyone else’s. They find rules a matter for mockery, and can be vocal about what they think about all the rules in their lives. And yet, they are also the ones who are in trouble all the time. As Christians, your instruction comes from God’s Word. In it you find how you are to treat your fellowman, how to care for the land you live on, and how you are to discipline your children. God’s Word is an instruction manual for your lives, and when you open it and read it, you will also see how much God loves you to give you a guideline for your life. Paul told Timothy what God’s Word does for us. 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. We have everything we need, when we put God’s Word into practice. To do otherwise would be foolish on our part and we would be considered brutish. Let’s Pray: Father, help me put into practice all that you have for me in your Word. Help me not be brutish and foolish, making a mockery of the instruction you have for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 28 October 2016 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

Amen to that. I humble myself before our God. Without Him I am nothing.

@just4him I remember that there is nothing we can brag of. We should always stay humble in the eyes of people and in the eyes of God.

@annierose True. Bragging is prideful and pride is a sin.

Good words of wisdom. If only we would heed them. Have a blessed day

Heeding is always the problem. It gives us something to work on.
