Long ago someone told me that if you put a horse hair in a jar of pond water it would turn into a snake. Sure enough I met someone who had a jar of pond water with some little baby snakes in it. Have you ever heard of such?

No it really doesn't. The "snakes" were pin worms that eventually hatched out of the pond water in the jar.

@clrumfelt Bleech. I thought pin worms lived in to bottoms of children who eat too much dirt.

I have never heard of such a think. I don't like snakes of any size so I wouldn't try it though.

I was a kid when I heard of the trick and that was in the 1970's. And the critters weren't actually snakes, they were pin worms that hatched out from eggs in the water. Still just as icky as snakes.

@Happy2BeMe I really thought the hair had magically turned into a snake, but as an adult with access to the internet I had to look it up and found the real explanation wasn't so magical at all.

How could it be; could be some magic?

Really it is just science. The old farmers used to try and fascinate the younger generation with such tales. That was a long time before there were video games and the internet.
