My favorite of all the trips

We had quite a busy summer. We went on a few trips, mostly local. We went to the 1,000 Islands and did a boat tour and toured Boldt Castle. We toured an underground cave. We went to Niagara Falls, Hershey Park, and a couple weeks ago we brought the youngest 2 kids to Boston and Salem, Mass. But of all the trips we took, my favorite was our weekend camping trip in the Adirondacks. We stayed at a campground in Tupper Lake, which isn't a far drive from Lake Placid. We did go into Lake Placid, and we drove up Whiteface mountain which was gorgeous. We also did a bit of kayaking, that was my first time doing that. It was an amazing trip. I can't believe we waited so long to go camping! But it is definitely something we plan on doing again quite frequently in the future! We do not have anymore trips planned for the near future as the weather is getting cold and we have a few holidays to think about getting through, but we are working on some plans to go to Orlando in the spring, DC and Virginia next summer, and of course a few more weekend trips in the Adirondacks! What has been your favorite vacation or trip?

Camping in the Adirondacks is my first love. We already have our reservations in for next summer at our favorite campground. Your trip sounds delightful. You are making memories with your children that they will never forget.

We kept asking ourselves why we'd never done it before! Can't wait to go back again!

@katsmeow1213 My parents took us camping almost every weekend when I was a kid. It was cheap entertainment, not as cheap now but still just as much fun. And so worth every penny.

@PainsOnSlate My kids didn't seem as thrilled with it was hubby and I were... of course to them sitting around on video games all weekend is perfect. They still enjoyed themselves though and I think they'll look back with fond memories.

I have been camping for over 50 years and I still love it. My son has a two man kayak and we have great fun with that when he is in town from school. I live right next to the Kankakee River and we love to kayak or just do a float trip

I loved kayaking so much... I want to buy a kayak! And maybe buy a camp so we can go more often!

I cant really name one as my most favourite, because each trip is always different and special. We used to take a family trip every year, but nowadays with two kids in college, and each of them on different schedules, it is really difficult to plan a trip, or a holiday for the whole family. My most recent trip was to Singapore with my eldest daughter, last May.. it was the first time ever we had a gone on a holiday just the two of us.. and it was very special, indeed. Normally, if my husband leads our trips, we were always rushing to do and see everything in whatever short time we had. This time, my daughter and I just relaxed and really enjoyed our time. We picked and chose only the important things and places to visit, and we managed to see and visit all that we planned. I wonder if we ever get to go on trip together again, just me and my daughter... School holidays will start in December, we already have plans to go to Kuching, Sarawak.. Looking forward to new experience, and fond memories.

With the kids growing up now it is time for you and hubby to plan some trips just for yourselves. I'm usually the one in my family who wants to fit too much into a short time span!

We loved kayaking so much! Especially my 10 year old, and he's one of those cautious, anxious type children so it was surprising that he liked it so much. That's my 8 year old in the picture.. he liked it too. Whiteface was beautiful, but really expensive. They now charge people to go up the mountain cause it's such a big tourist attraction... actually all of Lake Placid is a huge tourist attraction... Tupper Lake was much nicer as it's a small, quiet town... being there felt so peaceful!

@crazyhorseladycx I prefer quieter towns too.. I really like the old historic type towns. I was so disappointed in Salem, MA. I expected a really old, historic town as they are big on boasting about the witch trials held there and everything... but it was even more touristy than Lake Placid... the first thing you see upon entering the town is a giant Dunkin Donuts. Ugh! Now I have to say Boston was nice.. for a large city it was a nice place to visit and the north end holds a lot of history there. We walked the Freedom Trail and saw where Paul Revere was buried and the house he lived in... Still, nothing compared to the quiet beauty of the Adirondacks!

@katsmeow1213 folks'n greed 've jest gotta ruin what mother nature's created, eh? kinda sounds like pigeon forge 'n tennessee - a tourist trap due to ms. dolly. i'm so glad that all enjoyed the kayakin'. perhaps doin' such gave yer elder son a sense 'f security with the way they're built? i'd be lookin' ferward to the quieter 'f the 2 myself. i adore small towns...'n no towns, lol.

Wow, I have had so many. I love Dearborn, Michigan, the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village are amazing historical places. I love Virginia and have done a lot of vacations there. Nashville is another favorite. I love England best of all I think, I can never vacation there too many times. Quebec is awesome as well.
