The Owl and the Flying Bookworm - A Poem -
Everyone believes that owls are really smart - fat, but smart. Well. some owls are kinda dumb, and some owls are way too smart for their own good. At least they think themselves to be smart.
At the same time, most folks believe that bugs, from beetles on through mosquitoes and down to lowly worms are plenty stupid. They all seem to crawl around looking for a bite to eat or for someone to bite.
Well, maybe not all of them. Some bugs are super advanced in their way of thinking, and some of them can read real writing (like the stuff you are looking at this very minute). And one of those bugs is even more advanced. It can not only read like you can and I can, but it can fly as well as can those smarty-pants owl critters.
Check it out. You will see.
The Owl and the Flying Bookworm
Owl sat on his branch a-looking
so's to see what might be cooking.
He turned his big-eyed head around
to see what he might see - and found
a sight of which he'd never heard -
a flying worm - just like some bird.
While the worm was swiftly flying,
it held a book and was applying
reading skills beyond compare,
as Worm flew right on through the air.
"Owl," said Worm, as he flew by,
"they say you cannot read, but why
with sight so good, you ought to be
the finest reader in your tree."
Smiling brightly, Owl replied,
"I never lettered, never tried.
My momma taught me what I need.
Its nice fat worms on which to feed."
"She said you catch 'em when they're ripe
Avoid the skinnies - fat's the type.
So put your book down, papers tend
to spoil worm flavors, start to end."

@Letranknight2015 - Yes. It must be the feathers and the diet of flying bookworms. -Gus-
