Uh Oh, Now I Might Be Playing With Images More than Writing

at least for a little bit. And you can all blame Gus. Actually, thanks to Gus I can now do things with my own images to provide more artsy work for the photo sharing site that will soon be switching to e-commerce if we so choose to use that portion of the site. The three images here I made using one photo. The one on the left was made using a ripple filter from Gimphoto whereas the other two are using the kaleidoscope filters. You can change several things in a photo and see the changes immediately before deciding. There are multitudes of choices. Today, we're doing a big window job, so I won't be around until tonight.

I know what you mean about playing with images, I was playing with watermarking some of my photos so I can upload them on a photo site.

What photo site is it that you're wanting to upload them to, Belle? Maybe it's the same one I'm now on? I'm not worrying about watermarking everything because the one I'm on is getting ready to roll out an e-commerce section of the site. I think it will be similar to zazzle which I think I joined but never did anything with.

@MarshaMusselman It is the same site that you are on. I am hoping that my other photos won't be stolen, I have had images stolen before.

@BelleStarr Do you want to pm me your link, or tell me your user name over there and I'll look you up. I'd hope your images wouldn't be stolen either, nor my own or anyone elses.

That sounds like a great program. I'm sure that you'll enjoy working with that. Its a sunny day here, so I hope that its the same where you are so that you can see the streaks easier and get them off! Have a great day today.

We can usually see the streaks even when it's not sunny although the lighter the sky the better that's for sure. We got the job done in half the time it took last year.

If you follow the link I provided in answer to Crazy's question, and download the program then you can try it out for yourself. Once you have it, I can give you tips if needed. A lot of it is exploring the possibilities. I've found that certain filters work with our own photos, and others provide their own to use. For instance, I found a few fractal filters, but those seem to be etched in stone on the basic image for each type and we decide how warped it looks. So there could be more than one type found online if others are doing the same thing. But no two should be exact. The filters that work with our own images shouldn't be found anywhere else.

Your photo is beautiful. I wish I had time to do those, or even knew how!!! Enjoy your day, Marsha.

They are done with moving some parameters around while working with filters. Not hard at all. The difficulty is in deciding which one to use. I wish the portion saved was larger for not the whole design shows up that well. Time is a problem for all of us. Some of this manipulation takes less time than it does to put together a post here, but I'll be doing both for a long time, I'm sure. One main reason I'm working on manipulating photos is that i joined a photo site that others here are on and the are getting ready to roll out a new option there to make one's photos available to those that would pay for them to be on mugs and such. You enjoy your day too, Dianne.

No, I've not manipulated them in the same fashion that Gus does, and I'm not sure what it is he does use for those. The GimPhoto editing program I found to be much easier to work with than excel manipulation, although my version is much older than Rebelann's so that could be part of why I had more difficulty than she did. It could also be because she's done it before and therefore, I had a different learning curve.

@MarshaMusselman My Excel is 2007 , which didn't do much in the sense didn't make it hard to recognize. I still have difficulty downloading softwares...I download then it doesn't work ...so guess my learning curve
