The veteran defender's 13th-minute strike helped the Rossoneri forget their recent struggles, although they still languish in 14th place in the table. The narrow defeat left Messina just ahead of Milan in 12th. In Saturday's other game, Chievo secured its first league win of the season in a lively and entertaining 2-0 triumph over Udinese at the Bentegodi Stadium. Victor Obinna was the hero for the hosts with a two-goal performance, his first strike coming on 31 minutes following an error by Udinese keeper Morgan De Sanctis.
