Day 56
Proverbs 12:5
Proverbs 12:5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
They’re called honeyed words. They sound good when spoken, but when you take the time to analyze what a person said, you can find all kinds of flaws in his or her discourse. A wicked person has one agenda, and that is to lure you away from the truth and what is right. However, when you take hold of what is right and just, you will not be swayed by those honeyed words that can lead you into darkness.
Solomon was the wisest man who ever lived. He could discern between good and evil counsel. He knew when a person had evil intent on their hearts and minds. Yet that did not mean his son had the same discernment.
1 Kings 12:6 And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I may answer this people?
7 And they spoke unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.
8 But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:
9 And he said unto them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?
10 And the young men that were grown up with him spoke unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spoke unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins.
11 And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
12 So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again the third day.
13 And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men's counsel that they gave him;
14 And spoke to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
Unlike Solomon, who had the people’s best interests at heart, even though he was strict with his ways, Rehoboam did not have the same intent. His answer caused the division of Israel into the divided kingdom.
As Christians, you need to look at what is being said, listen with your heart not just your ears, and you will be able to see the dark road the speaker intends you to travel down. You will be able to stay on the path of righteousness, even though that path is the one scoffed at, and you are ridiculed for the choices you make.
Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the straight gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads unto life, and few there be that find it.
Listen to everything that is said, analyze it for what the speaker is truly saying, and choose the right path that leads to salvation and you will never go wrong.
Let’s pray: Father, help me discern what people intend around me. Help me hear what they say and choose your way which leads to life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Observe what is being done not what is being said.
Look at actions for these speak a thousand truths than words.
