II'm running two series' right now basically songs with either men's or women's names in the title. It's time for the ladies. #8 in my Favorite "Girl's Names"Songs countdown is Morphine with their tune "Sheila." Led by Mark Sandman (bass, vocals,) Morphine formed in 1989 in Cambridge, Mass. The trio (Saxophonist Dana Colley and either Jerome Deupree or Billy Conway on drums) played a mimimilistic bluesy, jazzy rock, and, due to constant touring, was building a dedicated cult following until 1999, when Sandman collapsed and died onstage in Italy. From their 1993 album Cure for Pain, "Sheila" was not a hit, although, if you've seen the movie Spanking the Monkey, you've heard it. It's basically good, old Morphine blues rock, a fun listen, which is why I went with it over other options.
Morphine Album: Cure for Pain Song: Sheila Shelia has a cat, she pets the cat Puts a spell on the cat, a beautiful cat Shelia has a cat, she pets the cat Yea...
