Day 62 Proverbs 12:13 Proverbs 12:13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble. 14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompense of a man’s hands shall be rendered unto him. 15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkens unto counsel is wise. What you say can get you out of trouble or get you into it. You’ve been told through the course of your life to listen with your ears not with your mouth. Wise counsel starts with listening. If your mouth is always flapping, you’re not listening, and if you’re not listening, you’re not hearing what you need to know. How do you know whether what you hear is for your good or not? How does it affect you? Does what you hear sound plausible, or do you feel there isn’t something quite right about it, even if it does sound good. God gave us checks and balances in our makeup to discern right from wrong as well as knowing when something said is good or not. We all want to know the truth of the matter. We seek it with all our might. If something doesn’t sound right, we go digging until we are satisfied that what we heard is truth or a lie. Even Pilate had trouble with the truth. He asked Jesus what truth was. You know when all the research is done, the truth will be revealed and truth will set you free. You can say with confidence, with all the research backing you up, that what you said is true. A person who just flaps his jaw, doesn’t have the same research behind him. He cannot say with confidence that something he said was true or not. As Christians, one thing you can rely on is God’s Word. Not only does God not lie, but history has revealed that everything written in the Bible is true beyond measure. What people deem as fairytales for children, science has proven in one way or another. Archeology has found historical places, tombs, cities, scrolls. Science has proven different elements regarding our physical bodies, nature, and the food we eat. When it comes to what you say, therefore, you need to make certain your facts are straight, or nobody will believe anything you say, even with backed up research. John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (KJV) Let’s pray: Father, help me discern the truth of a matter when I hear it, whether it is a sermon regarding your Word and what someone said you said or did, or what people say and do around me every day. Help me seek out the truth so I can speak with confidence and not as a fool. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 7 November 2016 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

When I was pregnant, every night, I often read bible stories to my son. When my son is a bit older, he is now three, I am planning to buy him books with bible stories instead of fairy tales.

It is interesting that we have two ears but only one mouth.

@just4him it means listening should be prioritized instead of speaking.

Yes it is. I think maybe there was a special reason for that.
