Duterte wanted Philippines to be a Federalism type of government. Duterte won by Popular votes, It is 100 percent vote of the people but he wanted to eliminate the system that put him inside the castle. He may not have won the election had the recent election were under federalism. With Federalism, A person with less votes can win the election because of the electoral college. Look how divided USA right now because of the election results. The republicans are happy but the democrats are upset because Clinton is the winner of the popular vote. The electoral college can make small population regions powerful while it can make large population regions powerless. I just realize going this route might be terrible for the future. Yeah there are times the voters are dumb and the electoral college is suppose to be the neutralizer of the dumb voter but it can be scary. I just realize Philippine system is not really that bad. Philippines is not in a 2 party system. It is a country where a 3rd party and an independent can win. Why fix this system? Federalism doesn't sound like a good choice because the electoral college have a roster of elites. This video showed electoral college can easily be manipulated.

Like you i am also not in favor of federalism for our country. I heard of some very negative comments about it and i'm sure it wont be approved by the congress and the senate also.

@mammots We might end up in a 2 party system if we change into federalism.
