United States is a great nation and I don't why there are some people will voice up for independent. That's fully selfish act and ignore the foundation that many heroes in the past have built for this country. Well, I only say that as an outsider. What do you think ? Share with us ?

Yes, Hong Kong actually has none resource to become independent because everything we use for basic living are all imported from mainland China including food and water (even Hong Kong government needs to paid for it and nothing is free). Hong Kong always belonged to China before (sometimes around )1897. However, China was so poor in everything at that moment while under the Ching Dynansty and was forced to gave many part of Hong Kong and also rented some other part of Hong Kong for 99 years to United Kingdom (Before hand, there were 8 countries came to invade china together , killed many people, did many evil things and took many things from china ( France was among those 8 countries). Then Hong Kong has long been a British colony until 1997. By 1997, China negotiate with UK and took back the whole Hong Kong because they denied the poor and unfair treaty which the Ching Dynasty had signed with UK about 100 years ago. Although China took Hong Kong back but since Hong Kong people has long been a city under the British control and law as well (except the Japanese invaded Hong Kong for three years and 8 months in second world war period), The Hong Kong people couldn't adapt to Chinese government law and culture as well. Because Hong Kong has been more westernized, more advance in everything and enjoy the freedom for a long time which China could not provided such freedom deal to her own law and communist ideology. That's why they agree to allow Hong Kong to exists as a "One Nation, Two System" city for 50 years and there comes Hong Kong "Special Administration Region" and the British also agreed with that and so does most of the countries in the world. That means Hong Kong still has her own law , own freedom, own this and that but still it is a part of China. That's it.
