I have to ask, what do you think about paying athletes millions of dollars a year?

The money athletes earn for playing a game part of the year not to mention paid incredible healthcare, travel expenses and other perks is obscene while the majority of us struggle. I wish the people who routinely condemn the wealthy and corporate fat cats while ignoring athletes whom they worship would wake up that grossly wealthy athletes are greedy and corporations onto themselves just like those they rail against.

I believe that athletes should earm money. But in todays world money is concentrated in a few sports only. Many other sports persons go unnoticed. Lesser known sports should be popularised so that people have variety to watch and choose from. Income of spotspersons playing popular sports will automatically regulate itself.

I have no idea, really. I do wonder about the same thing. Why are sportsmen and celebrities paid so much?

it stops the game being sport and turns it into a business

@bizness I don't think they should be paid that much either.

I am a tennis fan and I can't believe how much players get for just losing a match in some tournaments. They say that it helps for some players in the lower rankings to travel the world and pay trainers etc but I still think it's a lot of money and probably more than they really need. I like to see players giving back with charity foundations but ultimately the top players live in the lap of luxury regardless.
