MRI With a Piercing?

So tomorrow I have the MRI on my ankle. I know you're not supposed to be wearing any metal but I have a small problem. I have a nose piercing that DOESN'T come out. I'd have to rip my nostril apart to get it out. When I scheduled the MRI I was told it might be a problem or it might not be - they just won't know until during the MRI. It could burn me, it could be ripped out by the machine. I basically just have to take my chances. Anyone else have an MRI with a piercing in?

That might be dangerous. I hope you'll be okay during the test.

Yeah they basically told me no way to know until they do the test. And my nose ring is stuck in there TIGHT...checked it earlier.

@Lolaze What a hassle. I thought nose ring is easy to remove like the earrings.

I don't have an MRI, but to be safe, that metal should be removed. Tell the doctors or the MRI operator about it.

I definitely plan to. I told the lady when I made the appointment for it and she is who told me it could be fine or it could burn or pull.

I saw a reality show once where the patient had a metal microchip in her arm, and nothing happened when she had an MRI. That could be irrelevant to your situation, but fingers crossed for you.

That sounds a difficult problem. I hope it all goes fine despite the piercing.

Now that sounds like it will be painful.
