John Blake reports the news on Monday the Texas Rangers have officially signed former San Diego Padres right handed starting pitcher Andrew Cashner to a one year, $10 million dollar contract.
Cashner has pitched in the Major Leagues with the Chicago Cubs from 2010-2011, the San Diego Padres from 2012-2016 and the Miami Marlins in 2016 before he entered the free agent market at the end of the current baseball season.
Cashner had a lifetime record of 31 wins and 53 losses with an earned run average of 3.89 which is making some baseball pundits wondering why the Rangers would take a chance of him.
Texas Rangers pitching coach Doug Brocail is confident he can work out the bugs in Cashner pitching style so he can be useful to be a successful pitcher in 2017 with the defending American League West Division champions.
Maybe a change in leagues may benefit Cashner in 2017.

$10 million seems an awful lot to straighten out a pitcher with a poor win loss record.
