I have provided a link to a very good website that describes perfectly what the open container law defines for anyone who has the inclination to even think about having a container of alcoholic beverage in their car, even in a driveway or parking lot, while the engine is not even running and even in the passenger seat or back seat of a vehicle, even if you are not the driver of that vehicle. My advice this holiday is to keep your beer in the trunk and don't open any bottles up until you are inside your house. Then don't drive if you are drunk. It's pretty simple and can keep you from having to pay a pretty big fine and have a record in your name permanently. If you want to spend time this holiday season with your loved ones, do not open anything alcoholic inside your car so you don't have to spend the holiday keeping company with thugs, bums, and other unsavories.
