Jogging out and treadmill both do appear similar. They both are meant for burning out fat, increasing stamina, cardiovascular fitness exercises, and for increasing the tone of our legs But the jogging is preferable than the treadmill for the following reasons. Jogging is inexpensive. Anybody can jog without spending even a single penny from one's own pocket. This is meant for all. But, treadmill requires some expenditure on dress, diet, transport etc., Jogging gives and improves discipline. It teaches about Time Management. One has to fix up a time for jogging which demands early to come out of the bed, wearing shoes and shorts etc., The time miss means jogging is stopped for the whole day. The treadmill does not require any fixed timing. One can go and do it at any time as per one's own convenience. Jogging out is more challenging . You may not be knowing where the surface is uneven and where the up is starting. So one has to be quick in receiving the shock and must be more alert while jogging out. He has to be more attentive about the traffic and the passers-by. The treadmill does not throw any such challenges. Everything can be arranged as per your choice. The plane can be made even or inclined. The speed can be adjusted etc.,

I prefer working out outdoor than on a treadmill. jogging outside gives me the freedom to be free from too much heat, sweat and suffocation unlike the treadmill.

It's up to the individual how to jog. I through experience find treadmill easier and injury free as jogging outside once twisted my ankle and did not jog for 3 months. And went down to the gym and found it more relaxing 99% injury free. Yes you pay a bit and very worthwhile.
