I was just asked a question about sustainability and being environmentally neutral for growing cotton. Meaning, no harm gets done to the environment, but they do not help the environment either.
They want to know how much they should raise the price on cotton to make this happen. Hello, sustainability should make things cheaper. That means you have a year round supply of cotton and have enough to more than enough cotton to meet the demand of society.
If you are taking care of the environment around you. Your cotton farms should grow fairly easy barring mother nature plays nice. I do not know why a farmer of cotton whether it be a corporate farm or small time one would not take care of what makes them money. To think you can charge more because you are doing what you are supposed to be doing.
This is what is wrong with our capitalist system. They act like they are doing something different and special, but are doing what they always were doing. They just repackaged it and re-branded it so they can overcharge their customers. Hello, that is the opposite of sustainable.
People will stop buying from them. BS because everyone is doing this.

Indeed and they are not even trying to hide it. Instead they try to make you think something is wrong with you.

You are right. It is always the farmer who is being cheated. This is happening everywhere in all the countries. I really do not understand why only farmers who are the actual producers should suffer? In India, it is always the farmers who are the worst sufferers. When they have to be defended in the Parliament they will not be defended by the Politicians. But when there is no need these dirty politicians dig out the issues of farmers linking them to various other problem in which they are most interested and make a hue and cry.

It is crappy how most rich do not produce anything of real value except a man made money system, while people like farmers who do carry more weight than gold in production get shaffted. This unless you are a corporate farmer and the government gives you all kind of hand outs in corporate wellfare.
