It's time for another one of those songs on my list of favorite "man" songs. This started as "favorite girl songs" by @teamfreak16 and I just kept going and going and going with the idea like the Energizer Bunny.
Here's the next song on the list.
#3: The Rubberband Man - Spinners
The movie Stripes almost ruined this song for me. It was used during the mud wrestling scene (quick worthless trivia: the exteriors for that scene were filmed on West Jefferson Street, between 3rd and 4th Streets, in downtown Louisville, Kentucky...there's a Marriott Hotel on the site now [and for more trivia, if you look in the background when Bill Murray throws his keys into the Ohio River you'll see the Belknap Building, where I had my first job after getting out of the Navy]).
But I put that out of my mind and went back to when I bought the 45 in 1976. Ooh, what a great song! Fun and danceable without being "disco," "The Rubberband Man" was one of the Spinners' biggest hits. There are two songs from that era (the other being "Games People Play [They Just Can't Stop It]") on my 100 favorites list.
Oh, what a great song.

From Happiness Is Being With the Spinners, 1976
Hey, y'all, prepare yourself!
