Favorite Avalanche Players #10 - Mike Ricci

Having recently wrapped up a series on my favorite Raiders players, I figured I'd move on to the great game of hockey with my favorite Colorado Avalanche players. #10 is center Mike Ricci.
Mike Ricci played 16 seasons in the NHL, and was with the Quebec Nordiques/Avalanche franchise from 1992-1998. Including playoffs, he played in 339 games for the team. He scored 91 regular season goals for the team, and was a big part of the Avalanche's 1996 Stanley Cup win. He was a hard nosed player, doing the dirty work so the Avalanche's superstars could shine.
When a team wins the Stanley Cup, each player gets one day to do with it what they please. The word was that Ricci took the cup fishing and drank beer from it. I once got a laugh out of him by bringing that up as he signed an autograph for me.
Ricci also had a bit part in the movie The Rocket, about the legendary Maurice Richard.

I was actually thinking about doing a favouirte hockey players list, or something along those lines, as well.. But I don't think I really have that many favourites to be honest haha.
Anyways, hockey is awesome.. And believe it or not, the Colorado Avalanche is my favourite hockey team. I know the name Mike Ricci, but don't know him well. I only really started getting in to watching the NHL (regularly) about 5 or 6 years ago. Either way, cool idea, and I can't wait to see the rest of your list! :)

You could always do one on current players, even if they all play for different teams. Go Av's!

I am a huge hockey fan so I will be following this list. I am a Montreal Canadiens fan though.
