We're at #7 in my Favorite "Time of Day" Songs series, songs with the time of day in the title, and it's a good one: "2 Minutes to Midnight" by Iron Maiden. Iron Maiden formed in London in 1975, and was a leader of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement. They are one of the world's top metal bands, having sold, according to Wikipedia, over 90 million records worldwide, and have performed over 2000 live shows. The Grammy winning band is also part of Hollywood's Rock Walk. (Fun Fact that You Might Already Know: Vocalist Bruce Dickinson is a commercial airline pilot, and flies the band's private jet when on tour.) From their 1984 album Powerslave, "2 Minutes to Midnight" is a reference to the Doomsday Clock, which reached two minutes during the Cold War. The song reached #11 in the UK, and #25 on the Billboard Top Album Tracks chart. It's also been featured in numerous video games, including Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (I used to "drive around" as I played, so that I could listen to certain songs. "2 Minutes to Midnight" was one of those songs.) Simply put, this is some fantastic heavy metal. Enjoy!

Yeah, that sounds good after a Gordon Lightfoot song.

Yeah, if you don't listen to a lot of metal, you probably wouldn't have heard it.
