Anyone that knows me knows that I am obsessed with hockey, particularly the Colorado Avalanche. Hence, my Favorite Avalanche Players series. We're at #9, center Stephane Yelle.
Stephane Yelle played 16 years in the NHL, seven of those as a member of the Avalanche. He played on both of Colorado's Stanley Cup winning teams, and still works for the organization.
While he wasn't a prolific scorer, he did net 46 goals in 505 Avalanche games.
Yelle was a hard nosed player, a mucker and grinder who did the dirty work for the team. He is, however, one of the best faceoff men in Avalanche history, always taking crucial faceoff's during tight games.
He wasn't a superstar, but a tough player that could be counted on night after night. I loved watching him play.

The Bruins have been really good the last few years. Too bad they never won a Stanley Cup while Ray Bourque was there. I'm glad he won one here!

Yelle is the kind of player a hockey team needs. Even a Gretzky needs to have grinders at his side.

Yep. They do the hard work so the superstars can shine.

Easy. There is no hockey or football on in the summer, when I do most of my riding!
