The Pittsburgh Pirates are interested in making a trade with another team in the Major Leagues for the service of their outfielder Andrew McCutchen before the start of the 2017 Major League Baseball season. McCutchen would likely be traded to another team since the Pirates management are looking to rebuild their team with younger players for the near future of the franchise that did not qualify for the playoffs during the 2016 Major League Baseball season. One reason the Pirates want to trade McCutchen is that he does not want to play either in left or right field. Since the Pirates want Sterling Marte to move from left to center field since he is a better defensive outfielder than McCutchen. It is evident that McCutchen, 30, who has been a defensive liability for the team will not be with the team before the start of the 2017 Major League Baseball season since his seven seasons with the Pirates will come to a close.

He is the subject of hot trade rumors. His stats noticeably dipped last season which is another reason why the Pirates want to move him now.

The Pirates feel that Andrew's best days are behind him.
