Well if many of you remember back in July I made a post about how I was listening to a song by Haste The Day while writing my post about Pop culture's fickleness,well it happened again. In writing my post about Grinches and Scrooges harping on our holiday cheer, I was listening to a cover of "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" by Gary Hoey. ( link here: a cover when upon hearing it for the first time last night, I thought:"Oh this cover is perfect for 'The Grinch's theme song." Now to cleanup any confusion I'll explain, back in December 2009 I created a Christmas themed mini-series titled "Princess Of The Damned:Apocalyptic Christmas." In this mini-series an evil Santa-Claus awakens four "Horsemen" dubbed "Reindeer-men Of The Apocalypse." They were as follows: "The Grinch" who represented war, "Humbug" who represented death, Winter Warlock who represented famine. And I can't remember the last one. I don't think I need to mention who I based them off of, but just in case:"The Grinch should be the most obvious given his name. Him representing war, was that I reasoned that in a roundabout way the Grinch did wage war on Christmas when he opted to steal it. Humbug too since that was Ebenezer Scrooge's catch phrase. The fact that Humbug represents Death was based off of the third spirit that visited him. And Winter Warlock was based off the entity of the same name from Rankin Bass' "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town,"and to an extent "Rudolph's Christmas In July." In short they're based off of antagonists of my favorite Christmas Specials. :p But getting back on point, I tend to listen to music while writing my novels and Comics, which as a result a lot of my characters have theme songs that I play when I write some of their scenes. And I figured this cover would be perfect for "The Grinch."
