Free agent outfielder Matt Holiday, 36, has reached a one year, $13 million dollar contract with the New York Yankees on Sunday. Holiday made his debut in the Major Leagues with the Colorado Rockies in 2004. Holliday has played as an outfielder for the Colorado Rockies from 2004-2008, Oakland Athletics in 2009, St Louis Cardinals from 2009-2016 before he became a free agent at the end of the 2016 baseball season. One reason the Cardinals declined to pick up his option was due to the fact that the team decided not to pick up $17 million dollar option.

He is getting close to the end of the line. He'll likely DH a lot.

The Yankees will need him for one season so they build their team for the near future.
