Fox Sports reports the San Diego Padres Yangervis Solarte are trying to save money by attempting to trade their third baseman to another team before the start of the 2017 baseball season.
Solarte, 29, has played three seasons with the Padres since he made his debut in 2014. He will be eligible to enter arbitration which could pay him a salary of $2.7 million dollars which is one reason the Padres want to trade him to another team so they can get some players who will come in at a cheaper rate for their team in 2017.
Solarte had a batting average of .286 with 15 home runs and 71 runs batted in during the 2016 Major League Baseball season which boggles my mind why the Padres want to trade him to another team before the start of the 2017 Major League Baseball season other than to give him a chance to play for a playoff contender.

He would be a cheap alternative for the Dodgers should they pass on resigning Turner.

The Padres will be doing Solarte a favor by trading him to a contender.
