Day 89
Proverbs 13:22
Proverbs 13:22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
Everybody likes an inheritance. Whether large or small, people like to know they will receive something from their parents when they pass on from this life.
Solomon showed us two kinds of inheritances. One was from the parent, and the other was from those who didn’t put any trust in God.
God is our Father. As Christians, our inheritance is from him.
1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
In order to receive an inheritance, you must be an heir.
Galatians 4:4 But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. (KJV)
When you accept Jesus as Savior and Lord, the Father automatically adopts you as his son or daughter. Your inheritance is sure. You don’t even need to go to court to prove your position in the family because Jesus’ blood covers you, proving you are his.
As God’s child, you also receive the inheritance of all those who didn’t put their trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Because they rejected Jesus, any inheritance they would have received, is given to the heir – you.
Are you receiving an inheritance from God as your Father, or are you giving it up because you have not accepted Jesus as your Savior and Lord?
Let’s pray: Father, I give you praise and thanks as your child, and pray that people everywhere would share your inheritance, an inheritance that cannot be taken away from them as they accept your Son as Savior and Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
