The Chicago Cubs are very interested in making a trade to acquire Kansas City Royals relief pitcher Wade Davis to join their team since it is not likely they plan to sign current free agent left handed closer Aroldis Chapman to a contract that would keep on the current World Series champions.
The reason the Royals would be interested in trading Davis at this time is that he will become a free agent at the end of the 2017 Major League Baseball season. The Royals would like to receive some players in return instead of losing their closer to free agency.
A report from the Los Angeles Times reports the Los Angeles Dodgers are interested in making a trade for Davis but the Royals at this time are not sure if they want to trade their closer at this time.

The Cubs have the prospects to trade for Davis. I can see a package beginning with Schwarber who is basically best as a DH.

Good idea for the Cubs to pick up Davis in a trade with the Royals since Chapman is not likely to return to the Cubs in 2017.

@Deepizzaguy Chapman and Jansen are asking insane money. Even the Dodgers may not pay which could their hopes next season.
