Theraphy and Therapyst

Philippines
December 9, 2016 10:22am CST
Customer tends to be misspelled as 'costumer' in my country. Another is therapy. I've seen therapy misspelled as 'theraphy' in newspapers, even on TV. What I didn't expect was to see a 'Wanted Therapyst' sign at a spa I passed by! These misspellings reminded me of an episode of Three's Company where one of the characters read the occupation on the business card as 'The Rapist,' instead of Therapist. Hmm, maybe that can help. If unsure if therapy or theraphy correct, contrast it with therapist and theraphist. Anyways, I found that funny episode, Hearing is Believing, on YouTube and attached it here. Just fast forward to 21:52.

Oh my gosh - I remember this episode - completely forgot about it - I loved Three's Company back in the days!! I can't think of any errors I've caught recently, but it's sad that I find all kinds of spelling errors across the web - even in what is supposed to be professional articles!!

i just found an example, an article from a news site: "What is happening is the earth is moving through the tale of an asteroid and pretends to be a bit of a comet and it has a bit of a tale and it produces jets." source:
A meteor shower expected to burst across Perth skies on Tuesday night would normally provide stargazers with a spectacular celestial show but that pesky supermoon is back to steal the limelight.

Thanks for the post. I misspell many words in English as it is my second language. I also have problems due to the keyboard with the almost deleted letters.

Just one letter wrong in some words can make it mean something else.

I wonder why those words are misspelled more, if it's because it was misspelled once somewhere everyone saw, and then the bad spelling got, well rather stuck, in people's heads, or because of something else

People who don't check they're work have that problem. I do try to check my stuff. I find when I rush, many times I make mistakes. I don't like my published material to have mistakes. Sometimes you can't fix them.

i think the mistakes natives and non-natives (like me and my people) make are different because we pronounce them differently and our alphabet has different letters.

I sometimes mispelled words due to this texting scam. Lol But I don't bother anyway because sometimes we do mistakes.

Sometimes they don't mind the spelling, and some missspelling are cause of texting. They thought that as long as you can read it is okay. They don't check the meaning of what they have read.
