Day 94
Proverbs 14:4
Proverbs 14:4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
When you work, you reap the rewards of your hard work. Those rewards are found in what you do – pay bills, go on vacation or holiday, buy the things you need and want. However, when you are jobless, those rewards are not there and want fills not only your stomach, but your needs as well.
Solomon was a person who did and had everything a person could want, yet he also saw what happened when people didn’t do anything to provide for their families.
Paul in his letter to Timothy told him what a person who did not provide for his household was like, and that proves true for us today.
1 Timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. (KJV)
As Christians, you are expected to take care of your household, seeing to their welfare, and you are to do the work of the kingdom of God.
Isaiah showed what the work of the kingdom is like when describing the fast common among the Jewish people.
Isaiah 58:6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? When thou see the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?
Paul knew there were people who did not work for what they had, and advised they change their ways so they would have what they needed, lawfully. His advice is for us today.
Ephesians 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needs.
When you work, as Solomon showed, you will have all that you need, and you will not be in want of anything.
Let’s pray: Father, help me do your work and be faithful to my family, not be idle, lacking what I need. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

That hurts all of us when thieves take what don't belong to them.
