I'm Just Curious

I've been wondering about this for awhile now (yes, I have nothing better to do.) I listen to a lot of music on You Tube, whether it's on my own, music someone posts here on MyLot, or during one of my girlfriend and I's music wars.
You Tube allows you, via a thumbs up or down, to "like" or "dislike" a video.
Yet hardly anyone seems to utilize the feature.
On a whim, I pulled up "When October Goes" by Barry Manilow (which I think is a great song.) 505, 478 people have viewed it, yet it's gotten only somewhere between 1-2 thousand likes, and 40 dislikes.
Why so few?
It's there, why not use it?
I never ask questions in my discussions here, but I'm honestly curious. Do you click one or the other while watching or listening?
If not, why?

I listen to Pandora and I use the thumbs up / down feature but on YouTube (not so much). Even if I watch Videos (not music related) I don't use it either.

I understand Pandora because it works a bit differently. I was just curious.

not normally.voting systems are kind of pointless on the internet.there's always people who run around disliking stuff just to be jerks.for every true vote on youtube there's probably 10 of the other.

I never thought of it as voting, rather I look at it as showing support. I guess it is voting, in a way.

Really nice song. I very seldom use the like or dislike unless it is a song that I really like or dislike. There has to be something that really stands out in the song to make me use them.

That's a good question. I wonder about the people who mark things thumbs down -- why rate it thumbs down if you're watching it? Why watch if you don't like it?

Exactly. Why watch or listen if you don't like it?

Initially it takes time to understand what like and dislike means. I also have been using youtube for long time. but started now using like and dislike just six months back.

@teamfreak16 You know no one can like/dislike without logging in.May be that is the reason.By the way I too like that song. For me October is a sad Month.
