There's lots of traveling going on right now in my current series of discussions, but they're focusing on the good ol' U.S.A. I don't want to leave the rest of the world out (even though I've never been anywhere other than Canada and Mexico), so here are songs with international titles. You'll see cities, nations, and even a continent in this countdown!
#10: East of West Berlin - Stonewall Jackson
Yeah, yeah, can you say, "dated"?? When it was recorded, however, it was very topical. The Berlin Wall was built in 1961, cutting off the Communist east and the democratic west. It came down in 1989, reuniting the capital city of Germany.
Stonewall Jackson took the headline and turned it into a love song. Yeah, only in country music can that happen. It's a simple love story: they had an argument, she went to East Berlin, and before they could make up the Wall was constructed, literally putting a wall between their relationship.
It may sound hokey now, but I grew up with this song, and I still love it...no matter how dated it is.

And yes, "Stonewall" is his real name:

You are on a roll. Never thought the wall would go hand in hand with country.
