Weird Dream

December 13, 2016 12:17pm CST
I took a nap today, and had a very strange dream. I dreamt that my fourteen year old son, who has autism, was driving. I dreamt that I had loaded the girls into the car, and while I was doing that, he got into the drivers seat and started it up. I came around to the passenger side, opened the door, and told him to get out and get in the passenger seat. And, he said "No. It's ok. I'm driving." So, of course I said, "No you're not." And, he just put it in reverse and started rolling. So, in a panic, I hopped into the passenger seat of the car, and he pulled out of the driveway and started driving. I was terrified the whole time, and kept telling him to pull over and let me drive, but he would just look at me and smile, and say, "When we get there." Even though I was afraid, I have to admit that he was doing an excellent job, and by the end of the ride my main concern was that he doesn't even have a permit, so if we got pulled over we would be in big trouble. Maybe my brain is trying to tell me to loosen the reigns on him a little bit.

I think you are being told that your son can manage quite a number of things just fine for himself and to loosen the hold mom. Give him some space and I'm sure you'll both be happier.
