Have you ever driven the wrong way on a one-way street?

I just heard on the news that my city has had 1,609 "wrong-way driving incidents" just this year! The ones we always here about is the ones where people drive the wrong way on the freeway or on/off ramps. How the heck do you confuse which way to go unless you are so inebriated that you can't even see? And if you're that far gone, how the heck do you even turn the key on the ignition?!
I have mistakenly gone down a one-way city street in a strange town way back when I was a new driver. So I take an extra look at unfamiliar streets (that one incident scared the crap outta me!).
We've had several people hurt or killed by what they are calling "wrong way drivers". Do you have a problem with that in your area?

I work on a one way street and we constantly see people going the wrong way on the street.

Maybe your city needs to put bigger signs? In my city the signs aren't that big and they're the shape of the speed limit signs so people might ignore them. They need to be VERY big because people don't pay attention!

@dragon54u The streets are clearly marked but for some reason some people just don't seem to take notice

Every now and then the local news has such a story and it isn't a pleasant one. I mean, people die because of this. Having said that, I confess I took a wrong turn on a city street in the way-back long ago and ended up going the wrong direction on a one-way street, but I've done that only once. Thank goodness! I remember breaking out in a sweat and feeling panicky when I realized what I'd done. I did manage to get turned around before an accident happened, thank goodness.

i went once, the wrong way on a one-way street. But a vagrant ran us down shouting it was a one way street. The street had no sign visible and we had only passed their a few month ago. Apparently, the streets becomes one-way by random, and whatever festivals that were presently being celebrated! Very hart to keep track off.
