The Colorado Rockies on Thursday have signed former Miami Marlins left handed relief pitcher Mike Dunn, 31, to a three year $19 million dollar contract. Dunn became a free agent at the end of the 2016 Major League Baseball season when his contract with the Marlins expired. The Marlins were interested in re-signing Dunn to a new contract before the start of the 2017 Major League Baseball season before the Rockies were able to reach a contract agreement with the left handed relief pitcher that will replace Boone Logan who is currently a free agent. Boone is not expected to return to the Rockies in 2017. Dunn who has pitched in the Major Leagues with the New York Yankees (2009), Atlanta Braves (2010) and the Miami Marlins from 2011-2016 will likely be working as a left handed relief pitching specialist for the Rockies.

The market for left handed relief specialists is high in 2017.
