We're almost there. #2 in my Favorite "Dead" Songs series belongs to "The Queen is Dead" by 80's alternative guitar band The Smiths.
Led by vocalist Morrissey and guitarist Johnny Marr, The Smiths formed in Manchester, England in 1982. The Smiths managed just four studio albums in their five years together, but are widely considered one the most influential bands of the 1980's.
(Fun Wikipedia Fact: Morrissey once wrote a book about New York punk band The New York Dolls, which led Marr to Morrissey's front door when he was forming the group.)
(Another Fun Wikipedia Fact: drummer Mike Joyce was on shrooms when he auditioned for the band.)
The title track from their 1986 Gold album, "The Queen is Dead" (New Musical Express Magazine ranks it as the #1 album of all time) was not released as a single. It does contain one of Morrissey's greatest lyrics, however. After learning that he's distantly related to the Royal Family, Morrissey breaks into Buckingham Palace, where he has a run in with the Queen: "She said eh, I know you and you cannot sing, I said that's nothing, you should hear me play piano."
Hilarious. The Smiths never rocked harder than they did on "The Queen is Dead."

Totally shocked that this made the list.
Seriously, how could this song be omitted? No way! I'm not a big Smiths fan, but I do like this song (and "Sheila Take a Bow").

If you only like two songs, those are good ones to like.

The Smiths are incomparable. Morrissey is a seminal figure of the 80s. Outstanding choice.

ha ha, I am personally a fan of bad singers. That is if they do it right. I would say this qualifies in more ways than one, but at least the queen knows who they are.
